Allen F. Agnew (1918- ), a geologist, served with the U.S. Geological Survey from 1942-1955 before becoming state geologist for South Dakota from 1955-1963. In 1963 he became a professor of geology at Indiana University and in 1969 he was a professor of geology at Washington State University.
